We have A LOT of opportunities this year for your school aged youth! Please review the list below (Club Schedule and List of Planned Activities can be found by clicking on the Club Name). We’re so excited to see what this club year has to bring!


Clubs

  • Scuppernong Sprouts is the beginning of our youngest members’ 4-H journey. Members will learn what it means to be in 4-H, how to run a meeting, and take part in citizenship activities, all while “learning by doing”!
    • Club Leader: Kaitlin Bateman
    • Ages: K-2nd Grade
    • Location/Time: First Wednesday of the month; 4:00-5:00 p.m. @ Extension Office.
  • Growing Clovers is the next step for our members’ in their 4-H journey. Members will expand on their knowledge of running a meeting and participate in more challenging activities in S.T.E.A.M., leadership, citizenship, and community service.
    • Club Leader: Lauren Nelson
    • Ages: 3rd-5th Grade
    • Location/Time: First Tuesday of the month; 4:00-5:00 p.m. @ Extension Office.
  • Cookie Rookies members will develop their culinary skills while learning new, healthy recipes.
    • Club Leader: Christine Muthler
    • Ages: 3rd-6th Grade
    • Location/Time: Third Wednesday of the month; 4:00-5:00 p.m. @ Extension Office
  • Mad Scientists will focus on our Electric Program Program. 4-H Electric Congress is an elite event sponsored by NC power companies to introduce youth to field of electricity. This club will focus on preparing youth to attend the event. For more information visit their WEBSITE. **LIMITED SPACE**
    • Club Leader: Amy Lowdermilk-Odom
    • Ages: 5th -12th Grade
    • Location/Time: Second Tuesday of the month; 4:00-5:30 p.m. @ Extension Office
  • Herd That 4-H Club is for our animal loving young people. We will grow their knowledge of showmanship, husbandry, market judging, and more for all things livestock, from chickens to steers!
    • Club Leader: Selma Boucher
    • Ages: 5th-12th grade
    • Location/Times: Third Tuesday of the month; 6:00-7:00 p.m. @ Extension Office
  • Scuppernong Sportsmen is all things hunting and fishing! Members will participate in hunter and boating safety, fishing, hunting, shooting, and plant/animal ID!
    • Club Leader:  Patrick Kirkman
    • Ages: 7th-12th grade
    • Location/Times: First Thursday of the month; 7 p.m. @ Extension Office *Some meetings will be moved to Saturdays to accommodate certain activities. A club meeting schedule will be given out at the first meeting.
  • Teen Council is active in planning and conducting county 4-H events. Meetings, committee work and other activities are ways for the council to involve youth in the affairs of 4-H. *FULL*
    •  Club Leader: Lauren Nelson
    • Ages: 7th-12th Grade
    • Location/Times: Last Tuesday of the month; 4:00 p.m. @ Extension Office

*Dates/Location/Times are subject to change based on club leader’s availability. Leaders will promptly contact club members with any changes.

**Clubs meeting at 4:00 p.m. are intended to be after school meetings so members can ride the bus and get dropped off at the Extension Office. Pick must be by 5:15 p.m. 

SPIN Clubs

SPIN (Special Interest) Clubs are condensed versions of our traditional clubs. They meet weekly for 6 weeks and focus on a particular subject. Meetings are geared towards the activity as opposed to parliamentary procedures.

  • Picture Perfect (SPIN Club) is for those interested in learning more about the art of photography.
    • Club Leader: Amy Lowdermilk-Odom
    • Ages: 4th-12th Grade
    • Location/Times: **Coming Spring 2024**

How to Register:

If you do not already have a profile set up on 4HOnline, you must do that first! This information is needed in order for your child to participate in 4-H. For more information on setting up a profile, please visit our 4HOnline Help Page.

Once you have a profile, or if you already have one, registration for each club is as easy as filling out this Sign-Up Form. Contact Lauren Nelson at lauren_nelson@ncsu.edu with any questions.

Start a 4-H Club!

We welcome the opportunity for additional clubs within Tyrrell County! A club requires at least 5 youth from 3 different families and a caring adult volunteer. Please review the Club Leader Role Description. Clubs can cover a wide range of topics such as science, livestock, service projects, robotics, art, etc.
