North Carolina General Statute § 168A-7 – Discrimination in Public Service is North Carolina’s State Law which regulates discrimination in public service and guides University policy.

POL 04.25.05 – Equal Opportunity, Non-Discrimination and Affirmative Action Policy This policy defines prohibited conduct and outlines general provisions the university will follow with respect to handling allegations of Discrimination, Harassment, and Retaliation.

REG 04.25.02 – Discrimination, Harassment and Retaliation Complaint Procedures This regulation serves as a companion to NCSU POL 04.25.05 (Equal Opportunity, Non-Discrimination and Affirmative Action Policy) to outline the specific procedures relating to the Discrimination, Harassment, and Retaliation complaint resolution processes at North Carolina State University.


Title IX – Sex Discrimination 

“No person in the United States shall, on the basis of sex, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any education program or activity receiving Federal financial assistance.” — Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972

At NC State, we are committed to ensuring that every member of our community learns and works in an environment free of sex discrimination and sexual harassment. Consistent with Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972, NC State does not discriminate against students, employees or members of the community on the basis of sex in any of its programs or activities. Sexual harassment (including sexual violence) is a kind of sex discrimination and is prohibited by Title IX and by NC State.

Title IX requires that all educational institutions that receive federal funds or financial assistance prohibit sex discrimination in all educational programs and activities, including recruitment, student admissions, financial assistance, housing, access to academic offerings, research and Extension programs.

NC State’s Office for Institutional Equity and Diversity implements and monitors NC State’s Title IX compliance procedures. The vice provost for institutional equity and diversity is the Title IX coordinator and works in partnership with the deputy Title IX coordinators. Visit the Title IX website for information on consultation services and  filing complaints, available training, and printable Title IX posters. The Pregnancy and Parenting page has information and resources for individuals who identify as pregnant or have a pregnancy-related condition, followed by resources specifically for students and employees. Individuals can find information about the request process for reasonable adjustments as well as the complaint form for individuals who feel they have been discriminated against based on the basis of pregnancy.

POL 04.25.07 – Title IX Sexual Harassment Policy This policy defines prohibited conduct under Title IX and outlines general provisions the university will follow with respect to handling allegations of sexual harassment in order to comply with Title IX.

REG 04.25.08 – Title IX Sexual Harassment Resolution Procedure This regulation serves as a companion to NCSU POL 04.25.07 (Title IX Sexual Harassment Policy) to outline the specific procedures relating to the Title IX Sexual Harassment Complaint Resolution Process at North Carolina State University.

REG 04.25.06 – Equal Opportunity, Title IX and Non-Discrimination Training for Employees This regulation outlines the University’s equal opportunity, Title IX and non-discrimination training requirements for employees.

REG 05.00.02 – Reasonable Accommodations in Employment This regulation addresses the provision of a reasonable accommodation in employment.

REG 04.20.05 – Service Animals for Persons with Disabilities This regulation addresses the use of service animals on campus by qualified individuals with disabilities. Pets and therapy animals are not considered service animals and therefore are not covered by this regulation.

REG 04.25.05 – Information and Communication Technology Accessibility  This regulation applies to the university’s information and communication technology resources and includes their procurement, development, implementation, and ongoing maintenance.

REG 02.20.01 – Academic Accommodations for Students with Disabilities This regulation addresses the eligibility of students for academic accommodations in educational programs, services, and activities at NC State, as well as the provision of such accommodations to students with various types of disabilities.


Grievances & Appeals 

REG 05.00.03 – Employees Subject to the State Human Resources Act Staff positions at the University are governed by human resources policies issued through the Office of State Human Resources (OSHR) and the University of North Carolina General Administration (UNC-GA).

POL 05.25.03 – Review and Appeal Processes for EHRA Non-Faculty Employees This policy provides for timely and good faith review and attempted resolution of employment-related concerns for those EHRA non-faculty professionals and Tier-II senior academic and administrative officers whose positions are not subject to SHRA grievance or faculty review procedures.

REG 05.25.06 EHRA Non-Faculty Employee Reviews and Appeals This regulation serves as a companion to NCSU POL 05.25.03 – Review and Appeal Processes for EHRA Non-Faculty Employees (EHRA Professionals and Tier-II Senior Academic and Administrative Officers) and establishes the procedures to be followed after an EHRA non-faculty employee has filed a grievance or appeal.

POL 05.25.01 – Faculty Grievance and Non-Reappointment Review Policy The purpose of this policy is to provide an internal university process for the good faith resolution of employment-related faculty issues including (a) grievances in which a faculty member seeks redress concerning general employment-related actions including post-tenure review and denial of promotion and (b) reviews of non-reappointment decisions of tenure-track faculty members.

REG 05.25.04 – Faculty Grievance and Non-Reappointment Review  This regulation (and its appendices) serves as a companion to NCSU POL 05.25.01, and sets forth the procedures to be followed after a faculty member has filed a petition to review a non-reappointment decision pursuant to Section 604 of The Code of the UNC Board of Governors or a grievance in which a faculty member seeks redress concerning general employment-related actions including post-tenure review and denial of promotion.

POL 01.05.08 Faculty and EHRA Non-Faculty Appeals to Board of Trustees Appeal procedures for grievances or review requests pursuant to NCSU POL05.25.01 – Faculty Grievance and Non-Reappointment Review Policy and to NCSU POL01.05.12 – Review and Appeal Processes for EHRA Non-Faculty Employees.
